WELCOME ABOARD
Carnarvon's unique location makes it a tropical oasis situated approximately 904km north of Perth (capital city of Western Australia) on the west coast. With its abundance of attractions, host of accommodation and exciting tourism products the town is a wonderful place for a truly memorable sailing holiday.
Carnarvon is commonly recognised for its banana plantations, tropical fruits, fine seafood and warm climate and is situated in the heart of the Gascoyne region on the doorstep of the Indian Ocean.
Our facilities
The 34 berth Marina opened in 2006 and is fully occupied with members’ boats. We welcome cruisers and endeavour to allocate a vacant pen to visitors when available.
Our clubhouse boasts a recently covered alfresco outdoor bar and eating area and is open Friday evenings for drinks and meals. Click here to find out more about hiring our facilities.
Members and visitors support the often festive Friday night gatherings on the lawn beneath the coconut palms. Musical instruments are brought along, creating an impromptu jam session, particularly during the busy cruising season (April to October) when the Fascine is filled with visiting vessels.
Anchorage is free in the protected Fascine Waterway all the way from the Marina to the Town Beach, and there is access to showers, toilets and a washing machine at the Marina. Refuelling can be done at the Small Boat Harbour, with Sovereign Petroleum on 9941 1569. Click here to find out more.
The Carnarvon Yacht Club also has many kayakers as members and their crafts are housed in what was the old clubhouse next to the beach.
Events
Every two years in April, the Club hosts the Fremantle Carnarvon Bluewater Classic, a fantastic race which also incorporates festivities over the days that the visiting yachties are in town. The Club serves up sumptuous local seafood and plantation fresh fruit and vegies for the duration.
The Club also hosts the Windrush State Titles. Contact the club for more details about entering these events.
